History of the Department

In 1844 year in the Galician province of Austro-Hungary empire the event happened, historical meaning of which is heavily to over-estimate, - in Lviv the technical academy opened. Such technical higher schools in that time just began to appear in Europe, and this meant that Galician is the integral part of Europe. Opening a Technical academy in Lviv had huge political meaning: the Ukrainian young people got possibility to get the higher education, that considerably influenced on growth of national consciousness.

The years were passed, were changed power and name of educational establishment. The technical academy became an institute, then by the university and finally September 11 of 2000 year by Ukraine President Decree to the State university "Lvivska Politechnica" the status of national was given.

The department of the applied mathematics, which secured the issue of engineers-mathematicians, was created by the decision Scientific advice of Lviv state polytechnic institute in 1971 year.
